ABOUT
This special concert will bring together two stalwarts of creative improvised music: legendary violinist Malcolm Goldstein and Juno award-winning percussionist Jesse Stewart. At the age of 82, Malcolm continues to be one of the most original voices in the field of contemporary improvisation. He has received international acclaim for having “reinventing violin playing,” extending the range of tonal and textural possibilities of the instrument and revealing new dimensions of expressivity. Likewise, Ottawa percussionist Jesse Stewart has been described as “one of the most innovative musicians in Canada" (OttawaJazzScene, 2015). Their music is by turns joyful and contemplative, playful and serious, and always rooted in listening and a spirit of sonic experimentation.
