Join us to celebrate the release of Vancouver vocalist Angela Verbrugge’s second album, “Love for Connoisseurs”, featuring the vocalist’s original lyrics to jazz compositions by modern-day composers based in New York City and Vancouver. 

She is touring the project to top jazz venues across Canada with one of her composer collaborators, New York City-based jazz pianist Ray Gallon (Lionel Hampton, George Adams, Dizzy Gillespie, Chaka Chan, Jane Monheit, Sheila Jordan).

 “Gallon is a fine pianist who is not only a wonderful jazz player, but also a gifted accompanist,” writes (most recorded bassist in jazz history) Ron Carter. 

Angela's vision for this project was to create new vocal jazz repertoire by collaborating with composers that write innovative, yet catchy, bebop and classic jazz melodies. She caught listeners’ ears with her critically-acclaimed debut album, “The Night We Couldn’t Say Good Night” and won the 2021 JazzTimes Readers’ Poll for best female jazz vocalist. 

JazzTimes writes that Angela “possesses a winsome, brightly burnished, pliable voice, ample emotional intelligence, and conspicuously good taste”, while JazzWeekly describes her as “fun and quirky, hip and a hoot, wispy and romantic.” 

 In 2021, the Kingston-Ontario born and raised (neé Angela Clancy) singer brought her music to top jazz clubs in London and Istanbul.
